Title: Tool Maker
Location: Beaverton,ON
Roles & Responsibilities:
- The Tool Maker is responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, fixtures, and molds in the production of automotive components.
- Working closely with Engineering, Production, and Maintenance teams, the Tool Maker ensures that all tooling supports efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing operations.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications of tools, dies, prototypes, or models
- Design, maintain, and improve tools
- Troubleshoot dies in presses and on the bench
- Prepare templates and sketches, and determine work processes
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools
- Position, secure, measure and work metal stock or castings to lay out for machining
- Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), verniers, callipers, micrometers, and electronic measuring devices
- Fit and assemble or disassemble parts using hand tools
- Test completed tools, dies, jigs, or fixtures for proper orientation
- Operate machines such as lathes, drill presses, punch presses, shapers, and grinders to fabricate dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures
- Repair and rework dies, tools, jigs, etc. as per blueprints/engineering drawings/sketches/verbal instructions
- Clean, check, and lubricate machines to maintain proper operation Select proper material, heat treat, and process for tooling requirements
