We are seeking an experienced Telecom Power Engineer to design and deliver AC & DC power solutions supporting critical telecommunications infrastructure. This role is highly hands-on and focuses on engineering, implementation, and support of power systems including DC plants, UPS systems, and battery monitoring solutions.

Telecom Power Engineer (AC/DC Systems)
Raleigh, NC (Hybrid 3 Days Onsite, Downtown)

We are seeking an experienced Telecom Power Engineer to design and deliver AC & DC power solutions supporting critical telecommunications infrastructure. This role is highly hands-on and focuses on engineering, implementation, and support of power systems including DC plants, UPS systems, and battery monitoring solutions.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical expertise in telecom power systems and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement AC/DC power systems for telecom infrastructure
- Develop and deliver engineering job packages (EJPs) including equipment lists, installation instructions, and system diagrams
- Support planning, testing, deployment, and documentation of telecom power solutions
- Ensure cost-effective, reliable system designs aligned with business needs
- Provide Tier 3 technical support and guidance to operations teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute projects successfully
- Prepare cost estimates, work orders, and engineering studies
- Maintain and enhance processes to improve operational support
- 6 years of telecom power engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience)
- Strong experience with:
- AC power systems (120/240V)
- DC power systems (48V / 130V)
- UPS and DC plant systems
- Battery monitoring and backup power systems
- Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC)
- Experience with grounding standards for telecom infrastructure
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Visio, etc.)
- Experience with telecom power vendors (e.g., Eltek, Vertiv, Delta, Powerware)
- Exposure to networking basics (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
- Hands-on experience with telecom hardware (Cisco, Nokia, Ciena, etc.)
- Experience in utility or energy environments
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Jira, or ServiceNow
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification or EIT (nice to have)
- Hybrid: 3 days onsite in downtown Raleigh
- Up to 5% travel for site visits and implementations
- Collaborative engineering team with a mix of field and design work
- Candidates must be local to the Raleigh area
- Strong documentation and communication skills are essential
- Hands-on telecom power experience is critical for success in this role
