We are seeking an experienced Systems Validation Engineer to join our autonomous truck validation team. This role focuses on integration, testing, and validation of advanced autonomous hauling systems (Cat® Command for Hauling). The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, hands-on testing experience, and the ability to collaborate across global teams.
Required Education:
- Degree Preference: Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred.
- Alternative Disciplines: Open to other engineering disciplines based on relevant experience.
- Experience Requirement: Minimum 8 years of engineering experience (internships may count proportionally).
- Experience Level: Applies regardless of educational attainment, including master’s degrees.
Technical & Professional:
- SIL Testing: Execute Software in the Loop (SIL) tests with clear documentation.
- Scripting: Automate system-level administrative tasks using Python or other scripting languages.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
- IT Administration: 2 years managing Windows Server and Ubuntu VMs using vSphere (OS updates, LDAP account administration, SQL server management).
- Networking: Test and troubleshoot IT issues in client/server environments; familiarity with networking protocols (unicast, multicast, broadcast) and tools such as Wireshark.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to learn continuously.
- Effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Integration & Validation: Integrate multiple systems and validate autonomous truck functionality.
- Test Execution: Execute existing test plans and develop new plans for new features.
- Debugging: Identify, debug, and document system issues.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the MineStar development team in Australia and the Cat India validation team.
- Agile Practices: Participate in daily stand-up meetings.
- On-Machine Testing: Support HIL (Hardware in the Loop) and SIL labs, as well as on-machine testing at BB test tracks using surrogate vehicles.
- Automation: Develop automated scripts and simulations to support testing processes.
- Demonstrations: Assist in dealer/customer demonstrations as needed (travel up to 25%, e.g., Tucson, AZ).
