Department: IS Core Infrastructure

Location: 3535 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA

Summary:

• Responsible for the installation, ongoing maintenance, performance, and security of computer systems running the Linux operating system using sound, proven, industry best practices and in accordance with enterprise standards and methodology.
  
  

Provides key system maintenance by performing routine updates, patches, and system updates. This is inclusive of performance monitoring, optimizing system performance and capacity planning to meet organizational needs. Performs troubleshooting and diagnosis and resolution of system issues, minimizing downtime.as well as automation via scripting and configuration tools to streamline operations and deployment processes. Acts as a technical escalation point for team members.

Responsibilities:

• Provide system administration and related services to Penn Medicine, as well as the faculty, staff, and students of the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) and its affiliates. Deploy, configure, manage, patch, update and troubleshoot servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux and similar distributions.
• Install and debug a wide range of web application software on servers, working with clients to resolve issues.
• Automate repetitive procedures and create custom monitoring tests.
• Participate in developing specifications, policies, procedures and standards for Penn Medicine.
• Document all systems, applications, configurations, and changes.
• Creates new Linux server accounts as requested, following established approval and implementation processes.
• Provides assistance to Linux server users, working with other DTS staff and within the established service-level agreements.
• Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
  
  

Education or Equivalent Experience:

• Bachelor's degree. (Required)
• 3 years of prior experience administering Linux systems. (Required)
