Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Systems Administrator with deep expertise in IBM AIX to lead the Administration, stability, and optimization of our enterprise Power Systems environment. This role is critical for maintaining mission-critical legacy infrastructure while supporting our strategic transition toward Linux and AWS cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary (AIX): Lead the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM AIX servers, including LPAR management via HMC, VIO server administration, and NIM for OS deployments.
- Secondary (Linux & AWS): Provide administrative support for RHEL/Ubuntu environments and manage AWS cloud resources (EC2, IAM, VPC) to ensure seamless hybrid-cloud operations.
- Data Protection: Manage enterprise-level backup and recovery operations (e.g., IBM Spectrum Protect or Veeam) and maintain high-availability clusters (HACMP/PowerHA).
- Storage Management: Administer SAN/NAS storage, including Logical Volume Management (LVM) and fiber channel zoning for AIX and Linux hosts.
- Automation: Develop and maintain Shell, Perl, or Ansible scripts to automate routine system tasks and patch management.
- Education: Bachelor s degree in CS, IT, or a related field.
- Experience: 7 years in AIX Administration in a large-scale production environment.
- Cloud: Hands-on experience with AWS Administration (Foundational or Associate level certification preferred).
- Legacy/Modern Skills: Strong proficiency in PowerVM, NIM, and SMIT, alongside familiarity with RHEL/Linux.
