Genesis10 is seeking a Solidworks Designer. This is a 6-month contract position with a client located in Buffalo Grove, IL.

Compensation: $30.00-50.00 per hour, W2

Responsibilities:

• Support various engineering activities including drafting type work (3D solid modeling, drawing detailing, dimensioning, tolerancing), critical thinking/problem solving, and possibly mini projects covering engineering support of quality, sourcing, or manufacturing.
• Support for the electronics team is possible depending on the skillset of the candidate.
• Exposurer to various aspects of the design process such as tender development, conceptual definition, detail design, design verification/validation, and product launch/manufacturing support.
  
  

Requirements:

• A high degree of self-discipline and self-motivation is required.
• The ability to analytically work through problems, make decisions, and act consistently with available facts, constraints, and anticipated consequences is a must.
• Basic skills with Excel spreadsheets and basic formula writing are required, in addition to strong attention to detail and emphasis on meeting commitments
• The candidate must have the ability to utilize and improve upon Wabtec's current processes, systems, and culture and ability to work within project schedules, budget constraints, and a matrix organization.
• Ability to communicate, in written and oral form, detailed technical engineering information, guidelines and standards/statutes/codes/ regulations to various audiences to ensure understanding to seek compliance.
• Interpersonal skills needed when dealing with all levels of internal and external organizations.
• Some exposure to 2D detail drawings and 3D models of individual components (castings, machined parts, sheet metal, etc.) and large assemblies preferred. Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Sound knowledge and demonstration of engineering principles.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting, preferably SolidWorks, is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
