Role: As a S enio r Systems Engineer, Perception, on the Software Validation team within the AV organization, you will play a critical role in leading the strategy and execution of validation efforts for perception capabilities on our autonomous vehicle software . You will leverage you r experience designing and implementing complex V&V strategies to quickly prototype, gain consensus, and move our programs forward with increased trust and efficiency. Your expertise will guide engineers in defining best practices, driving innovation in testing, and verifying the safety and performance of autonomous perception systems . You will be responsible for shaping the future of evaluation methodologies for AI systems and other ADAS features , architecting solutions that meet the testing needs of AI developers, systems engineers, and safety stakeholders.

What You'll Do:
- Define requirements and metrics for validating perception software to enable safe and comfortable autonomous vehicle operations .
- Own analysis and characterization of perception systems, influencing software development and launch decisions
- Prototype and develop simulation-based and road-based testing strategies that support continuous and scaled software release cycles
- Combine experience in s ystems e ngineering and data analysis to facilitate data driven design, validation, risk analysis, and prioritization decisions
- Own roadmaps for developing long-term and stable requirements, verification/validation, and/or software solutions to advanced problems over multiple product lifecycles
- Mentor team members and facilitate cross-team collaboration to define perception validation strategies for new launches
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields
- 7 years of experience in systems engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, statistical analysis, or other related fields
- Proficient with SQL, Python, and C for analyz ing large data sets
- Experience with evaluating machine-learned systems and setting acceptance criteria on perception systems, state estimators, or similar robotics functions
- Subject matter expertise in common detection and classification evaluation metrics such as precision, recall, and footprint overlap
- Experience with vehicle dynamics and deriving requirements based on physics or other first principles
- Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity , going from quick code prototypes to long-term plans on brief time horizons
- Excellent communication skills, capable of switching between high-level and detailed discussions
- Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, vehicle development, or ADAS development
- Experience working with robotics simulation environments
- Experience analyzing perception and sensor data
- Industry experience in system engineering and requirements management including system analysis, requirements authoring, test generation, and validation activities
- Experience with requirements management tools (Jama, DNG, DOORS, etc.)
- Proven track record of successful systems engineering for a safety-critical product
