Senior Solution Architect (Customer-Facing)

Perm or Direct

Richmond, VA (within driving distance; occasional on-site with one-day notice) NC, OR McLean is fine

Start Date: Second week of January

Salary - $150K plus 10% bonus

Position Summary

This is a senior, customer-facing Solution Architect role that will serve as part of the leadership team supporting a 50-person IT hub.
The position focuses on defining and guiding high-level architecture, providing coaching (not direct management), and creating scalable, reliable solutions that drive business outcomes.
The right candidate will combine strong technical architecture skills with excellent communication abilities and a collaborative, coaching-oriented mindset.

Technical Focus

80% Architecture / 20% Leadership (coaching, not managing)
1 2 years of leadership experience
Experience with Microservices architecture, API platforms, and high-traffic, high-visibility systems
Knowledge of scalable, reliable, and modern architectural frameworks
Strong cloud-based architecture experience
Microservices API platform expertise
Background designing enterprise-scale, customer-facing platforms
Experience with distributed systems, event-driven patterns, and high-availability systems
Ability to coach teams and influence architecture direction
Comfort working in Agile environments
Transportation or logistics industry experience major plus
Strong foundation in solution and systems architecture
Experience supporting mission-critical, customer-facing platforms

Salary : $150,000
