We are looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer - Remote / Telecommute for our client in San Francisco, CA

Job Title: Senior Quality Assurance Engineer - Remote / Telecommute

Job Type: Contract

Job Overview:

Pay Range: $35hr - $40hr

Requirement/Must Have:

  • Strong experience in manual quality assurance and software testing.
  • Experience validating business and technical requirements by collaborating with business analysts and stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify ambiguities, gaps, and inconsistencies in requirements early in the SDLC.
  • Experience planning, estimating, and prioritizing test activities for sprints and releases.
  • Strong experience designing and executing functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test cases.
  • Experience tracking and managing defects using project management or defect tracking tools.
  • Ability to actively participate in defect triage discussions and determine severity, priority, and resolution paths.
  • Experience working closely with vendor teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to create comprehensive status reports for large testing initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of QA process improvement and SDLC best practices.
  • Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis for production or UAT issues.
  • Strong knowledge of organizational, regulatory, and security compliance standards in testing.
  • Insurance domain experience required.

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer or Senior Manual QA.
  • Experience in manual testing across functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end scenarios.
  • Experience supporting large testing initiatives and release cycles.
  • Experience mentoring junior QA engineers or onboarding new team members.
  • Experience working in regulated environments preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Validate business and technical requirements by collaborating with business analysts to ask clarifying questions and identify ambiguities, gaps, or inconsistencies early.
  • Ensure specifications align with user expectations and business needs.
  • Plan, estimate, and prioritize test activities for upcoming sprints and releases.
  • Design and execute comprehensive test cases covering functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end scenarios.
  • Maintain current and complete test coverage across all required areas.
  • Track and manage defects using project management tools.
  • Participate in defect triage discussions to determine severity, priority, and resolution paths.
  • Coordinate closely with vendor teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings and support the project QA lead in executing testing activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying process gaps, recommending enhancements, and refining QA standards.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to new team members and junior QA engineers.
  • Create training videos, manuals, and wiki pages for knowledge sharing and onboarding.
  • Create comprehensive status reports for large testing initiatives, including test execution status, key defects, and action items.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and security standards throughout testing activities.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing by assisting testers, clarifying expected behaviors, and validating fixes or enhancements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for issues identified in production or UAT.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prevent issue recurrence and improve software quality.
