Establishes policies for the medical records department.
Develops and supervises a system to maintain complete and confidential medical records.
Supervisesthe release of information to physicians, insurance companies, courts, and others in accordancewith departmental policy, New Jersey laws, and other regulations affecting medical records.
Establishes, indexes, and periodically reviewsdata requirements; establishes, reviews,and amends mechanical informationsystems as necessary to complywith new legislation or demands for new data.
Reviewsand supervises thereview of medicalrecords for completeness andaccuracy; initiates proceduresto facilitate prompt completionof records by physicians; refers incompleteor inaccurate records for correction.
Assiststhe medical staff in developingadmissions, length of
stay,extended stay criteria, audit criteria, and other policies
and procedures to assure compliance with thestandards set by the
JointCommission on Accreditation of Hospitals, Social Security Administration, Professional Standard Revieworganizations, and other regulatoryagencies.
Supervisesthe filing, withdrawing, and issuance of records and files to authorized personnel.
Supervises the work operations and/orfunctional programs and has responsibilityfor effectively recommending the hiring,firing, promoting, demoting and/or disciplining of employees.
