Position summary:
- We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mainframe EDI Developer to join the EDIG (Electronic Data Interchange Gateway) Host Team—part of a collaborative group supporting healthcare claims processing across multiple interconnected systems.
- This role is ideal for a self‑starter who thrives in mainframe environments, understands HIPAA transactions, and enjoys working in a tight, supportive team.
- EDIG organization consisting of:
- Host Team (this role)
- Non‑Host Team
- Operations Team
- Total of 5–9 developers on the Host Team
- Close collaboration with team lead for assignments and direction
- Regular interaction with non-host and operations groups to support the full EDIG workflow
- On-call rotation required
- Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications that support healthcare claims management.
- Process and validate HIPAA X12 5010 transactions (837, 835, 834, 270/271, 276/277).
- Support secure file transfer processes (NDM, FTP, VPN) between mainframe and UNIX systems.
- Work with claims data and file structures for Commercial, EDIG, and TRICARE systems.
- Utilize PIMS knowledge to support existing legacy functionality.
- Create technical documentation including requirements, test plans, and implementation plans.
- Participate in production support and on-call responsibilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure end‑to‑end EDI processing stability.

- Experience supporting large-scale mainframe-based EDI systems
- Ability to operate effectively in team-based environments with shared responsibilities
- Self-starter with strong initiative
- Excellent communication across technical and non-technical groups
- Team player with collaborative mindset
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities
- 4 years of application development, systems testing or other job-related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
- OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
- OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 8 years without a degree)
