Role: Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect (Azure Specialist)
Location: Charlotte, NC (Onsite) - Locals only
Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Azure Architect to join our Platform Engineering division. In this role, you will be instrumental in architecting an enterprise-grade internal developer ecosystem. Our mission is to eliminate deployment friction by providing application teams with a streamlined, self-service experience that harmonizes rapid innovation with rigorous security and cost governance.
As a lead architectural voice, you will define the blueprints and standards that underpin our entire cloud presence. You will bridge the divide between core infrastructure operations and the developer experience, ensuring our global cloud footprint remains resilient, scalable, and secure.
Core Responsibilities
Enterprise-Scale Design: Architect and evolve reference models for various compute runtimes. You will evaluate workload needs to determine the most effective deployment strategies across containerized environments (AKS) and managed platform services.
High Availability & Business Continuity: Engineering robust, Tier 1 architectures capable of active-active multi-region failover. You will define the disaster recovery patterns for global traffic management and data persistence layers to meet demanding recovery time objectives.
Security & Network Fabric: Design sophisticated networking topologies, including hub-and-spoke frameworks and private connectivity strategies. You will lead the "Secure by Design" initiative by integrating modern identity management (OIDC/OAuth) and automated policy enforcement.
Governance & Standardization: Transform complex technical requirements into repeatable, compliant patterns. You will ensure every cloud deployment adheres to organizational standards for telemetry, logging, and fiscal accountability.
Technical Advisory: Serve as the definitive Azure subject matter expert. You will consult with internal engineering teams on modernization efforts, database performance tuning, and the adoption of cloud-native methodologies.
Qualifications & Technical Proficiency
Azure Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of the Azure ecosystem and control plane. You understand the nuances, service limits, and trade-offs inherent in AKS, App Services, and enterprise storage solutions.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Expert-level proficiency with Terraform. You possess a proven ability to develop modular, testable, and reusable code for large-scale enterprise environments.
Complex Data Architecture: Extensive experience designing highly available data solutions utilizing PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB (multi-region), and distributed caching mechanisms.
Advanced Networking: Deep understanding of virtual networking, including application gateways, global load balancing, and private endpoint security.
Operational Excellence: Familiarity with modern observability stacks (Prometheus, Managed Grafana, Azure Monitor) and a focus on "Day 2" operational efficiency.
Identity & Access Management: Strong grasp of RBAC models, federated credentials, and cloud security posture management.
Preferred Skills
Experience utilizing industry-standard cloud security and audit tools.
Background in FinOps methodologies, specifically regarding budget enforcement and cost optimization.
Knowledge of GitOps workflows (e.g., Flux or ArgoCD) and automated CI/CD pipelines.
Experience engaging directly with cloud management APIs for custom automation.
