Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP BASIS Consultant to support, administer, and optimize complex SAP landscapes. The role involves system installations, upgrades, database administration (DB2 and SAP HANA), performance tuning, transport management, and close collaboration with OS/DB teams. The candidate will provide on-call support, interact directly with clients, and ensure stable, secure, and high-performing SAP environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-call support and interact with clients for consultation, project execution, and production issue resolution
- Administer and support SAP landscapes, ensuring high availability, performance, and stability
- Collaborate with OS and Database Administrators to optimize overall SAP system performance
- Perform database administration for IBM DB2 and SAP HANA, including:
- Database upgrades and fix pack applications
- Performance tuning and optimization
- Backup and restore strategies
- Integration with third-party backup tools
- Database security, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
- Manage SAP system performance, corrections, upgrades, and transport management (CTS/TMS)
- Handle client administration, landscape strategies, and system refreshes
- Schedule and monitor background jobs and batch processing
- Perform SAP installations, upgrades, and maintenance (ECC, S/4HANA, related SAP components)
- Maintain SAP HANA databases, including patching and service stack upgrades
- Support SAP XI/PI, including:
- Installation of SAP and third-party adapters
- Configuration of system connections to partner systems
- Activation and monitoring of basic XI/PI monitoring
- Support technical and functional enhancements across SAP systems
- Ensure compliance with SAP best practices, security standards, and change management procedures
- Strong experience as an SAP BASIS Consultant / Administrator
- Hands-on expertise with SAP HANA and IBM DB2 databases
- Experience with SAP system installations, upgrades, kernel patches, and SP/EHP upgrades
- Solid knowledge of CTS/TMS, client administration, transport strategies, and batch job scheduling
- Experience with backup and recovery using SAP and third-party tools
- Familiarity with SAP XI/PI administration and monitoring
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
- Ability to work in on-call and production support environments
- Good communication skills and experience working directly with clients
- Experience with S/4HANA system conversions or migrations
- Exposure to Solution Manager, ChaRM, and monitoring tools
- Knowledge of security, authorizations, and audit compliance
- Experience in multi-system, global SAP landscapes
