About The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Quality Engineer (Staff Level) to support advanced production programs and drive quality excellence across multiple sites and suppliers. This role involves cross-functional collaboration, process improvement, and hands-on engagement with manufacturing and supplier quality initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support multiple sites and suppliers for production and transition-to-production initiatives
- Lead and facilitate complex quality improvement initiatives to resolve recurring issues
- Travel to supplier and site locations to assess and resolve program-related quality concerns
- Identify process gaps and implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing solutions
- Interface with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to communicate quality metrics and issues
- Develop and improve quality processes, inspection plans, and performance metrics
- Conduct root cause analysis and support failure investigations and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and quality requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, STEM field, or equivalent experience
- Experience working in manufacturing or quality engineering environments
- Strong knowledge of industry quality standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, FAR/DFAR, J-STD
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to develop inspection methods
- Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Experience with:
- Non-conformance disposition & root cause analysis
- First Article Inspections (AS9102)
- Inspection plan development
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with cross-functional teams and suppliers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to travel as required
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or CQIA certification
- Lean / Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt)
- Experience in supplier quality, audits, and production surveillance
- Knowledge of special processes and manufacturing methods
- Experience with process capability analysis, gage R&R, and MSA
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems (e.g., SAP, Apriso)
- Prior experience in mentoring or leading teams
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
