The Quality Control (QC) Engineer is responsible for inspecting and testing manufactured products, documenting defects, and verifying the implementation of corrective actions in the manufacturing process. This role works closely with production staff, engineers, and other departments to ensure compliance with quality standards and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection and Testing: Conduct regular inspections and tests on PCBA to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Defect Identification: Identify and document defects or issues in the manufacturing process and products.
- Corrective Actions: Verify the implementation of corrective actions to address identified defects and prevent recurrence.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in KAIZEN projects and other initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards and procedures.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
- Reporting: Prepare reports on quality issues and improvements for management review.
- Issue Investigation: Lead or support investigations of quality issues, coordinating with cross-functional teams (PD, IE, SQE, ME) to identify root causes and implement corrective/preventive measures.
- Process Risk Assessment: Conduct and maintain PFMEA to identify potential quality risks and define control measures.
- QC Checklist Maintenance: Update QC inspection checklists based on product changes, process modifications, and customer requirements.
- Inspection System Tracking: Track, review, and approve feedback in inspection systems, ensuring maintenance and audit readiness.
- Team Support: Collaborate with QA functions as part of a team-oriented environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Basic knowledge of quality tools (Pareto, Histogram, Check Sheets, etc.).
- Familiarity with the electronics industry.
- Basic experience or willingness to learn electronic assembly and inspection procedures.
- Manual dexterity and good vision for identifying workmanship defects.
- Reliable, cooperative, and able to work in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
- Open to continuous training and improvement under supervisor guidance.
- Combination of office and production floor environment.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods during inspections.
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs.
- Exposure to manufacturing noise and machinery; PPE provided.
