Description
- The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is accepting applications for a contract Public Health Nurse Consultant 2 position in the Department of Health, Division of Family Health and Wellness. This position will provide clinical case management with Newborn Screening Follow-up.
- Provide case management and follow-up for newborns and children with abnormal or questionable newborn screening, hearing screening, and critical congenital heart disease results.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, parents, and tertiary care centers by responding to inquiries, providing case information, and coordinating follow-up activities.
- Follow established pediatric case management protocols and seek guidance as needed to ensure quality patient care and program compliance.
- Collaborate with nurse educators and healthcare facilities to identify educational needs and support training initiatives related to newborn screening and pediatric case management.
- Assist in the development, review, and revision of program policies, procedures, and workflow improvement initiatives.
- Education and Experience: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of four years of professional registered nursing experience.
- Substitution of Experience for Education: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with a diploma in registered nursing from an accredited school of nursing or a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and three years of professional registered nursing experience; OR currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and two years of professional registered nursing experience.

- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers, healthcare facilities, and multidisciplinary teams

- Knowledge of and experience working within the State of Tennessee environment
- Experience with case management, quality improvement, or program coordination
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management systems
- Location: Hybrid with in-person meetings as needed; some in-state travel required; Tennessee residency preferred
- Hours: Fulltime/37.5 hours per week
