What does a Technology Project Manager do?
People/Team
Understands and applies Organizational Change Management principles to projects to ensure effective communication and adoption
Project Management, Financial Strength & Risk Management
Leverages PMBOK, Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Waterfall, SDLC Iterative, and Agile project management frameworks to define project governance, manage risks, and drive the delivery of projects within scope, schedule, and cost constraints
Proficiently leverages Project Management tools such as MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, PPM and budgeting software to ensure high-quality project deliveries
Technology
Ability to understand technical constraints, dependencies, and frameworks to ensure the delivery of a high-quality solution
Partner with technical leads and vendors to ensure the translation of requirements into comprehensive test plans and technical solutions (Requirements Traceability)
What does it take to be a Technology Project Manager?
Required:
Strong experience working within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Waterfall and Iterative models
Ability to tactfully drive indirect reports and pivot while maintaining order in a fast-paced business environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong presentation skills and the ability to conduct presentations to large groups
Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
Experienced user of MS Project and MS Office toolset (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint)
Preferred:
Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma, or Agile certification
Experience working in Software Development and Test Organizations
Experience in Energy & Utilities or services industry
Experience in a consultative role with an implementation service organization or start-up
