Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support design and design management activities for electrical substations
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineering, project management, and field teams
- Review and validate substation design drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Ensure compliance with applicable utility standards, codes, and safety regulations
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations
- Provide technical guidance on protection systems and distribution engineering
- Identify risks and propose effective engineering solutions
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, and status updates
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5–10 years of experience in substation design or design management within the electric utility industry
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical substation design
- Protection systems
- Distribution engineering
- Proven ability to manage design processes involving multiple stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in California (highly desirable)
- Prior experience working with major US utility companies
- Familiarity with utility standards and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Project
- Strong documentation, reporting, and coordination skills
