PowerBuilder Developer (PMP Preferred) – Day 1 Onsite

Location: Albany, NY (Day 1 Onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced PowerBuilder Developer to support a New York State agency in Albany, NY. The selected candidate will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, application design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise applications.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in PowerBuilder development, C#/.NET technologies, database design and development, and project management methodologies. Candidates with PMP certification or formal project management experience are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain enterprise applications using PowerBuilder.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and detailed design documents.
• Develop and maintain C#/.NET components and integrations supporting business applications.
• Design and optimize database objects, including tables, views, triggers, stored procedures, and complex SQL queries.
• Perform application troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Develop technical documentation, system specifications, and support materials.
• Collaborate with business users, analysts, project managers, and technical teams throughout project lifecycles.
• Support system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), deployment activities, and post-production support.
• Ensure compliance with established software development and project management methodologies.
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations for system enhancements and modernization initiatives.
  
  

Required Qualifications

PowerBuilder Development

• Minimum 84 months (7 years) of hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications using PowerBuilder.
• Extensive experience with PowerBuilder coding, debugging, and application support.
  
  

C# / .NET Development

• Minimum 48 months (4 years) of experience developing applications using C# and .NET technologies.
• Experience building, maintaining, and integrating enterprise-level applications.
  
  

Database Development

• Minimum 48 months (4 years) of experience working with relational databases.
• Strong experience designing and developing:
• Tables
• Triggers
• Stored Procedures
• Views
• Complex SQL Queries
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
  
  

Requirements & Design

• Minimum 60 months (5 years) of experience gathering business requirements.
• Experience creating:
• Functional Specifications
• Technical Design Documents
• System Architecture Documentation
• Process Flow Diagrams
  

Project Methodology Experience

• Minimum 60 months (5 years) of experience working on projects that follow formal project management methodologies.
• Experience participating in SDLC activities including planning, development, testing, implementation, and support.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification.
• Experience working with New York State agencies or other government organizations.
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid project methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
