We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer or Architect to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Des Moines, Iowa. This role is ideal for someone who is detail oriented, with a strong background in network architecture, engineering, and security, who can assess current systems and recommend improvements. The position focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and efficient network solutions across diverse environments.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate existing network architecture and propose enhancements to improve performance and security.
Configure and manage backup solutions using Veeam Backup & Replication.
Implement and maintain VMware/vSphere environments to support virtual infrastructure needs.
Perform advanced switching tasks, including Layer 2/Layer 3 configurations, console cabling, and command-line operations.
Deploy and manage FortiGate firewalls across multiple locations, ensuring robust security protocols.
Handle mixed vendor switching setups, including Aruba, Cisco, Netgear, and Ubiquiti equipment.
Utilize Tenable tools to identify vulnerabilities, prioritize risks, and apply security patches across IT and cloud environments.
Leverage SentinelOne to autonomously detect, prevent, and respond to endpoint threats.
Conduct physical rack installations and ensure hardware is configured for optimal network performance.
Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and best practices.
Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering with exposure to architecture.
Proficient in Veeam Backup & Replication for data protection.
Strong expertise in VMware/vSphere technologies.
Advanced knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 switching protocols and console operations.
Hands-on experience with FortiGate firewall configuration and management.
Familiarity with vendor-specific networking equipment such as Aruba, Cisco, Netgear, and Ubiquiti.
Experience with Tenable security tools for vulnerability management and remediation.
Knowledge of SentinelOne for endpoint threat detection and response.
