Responsibilities
- Design, configure, test, implement, support, and support LAN solutions for enterprise infrastructure, including Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, F5 load balancers, Cisco ISE, and Cisco NAC.
- Provide daily support by resolving escalated tickets and performing proactive maintenance activities until permanent solutions are implemented.
- Participate in software deployment processes for new modules, upgrades, and fixes to the production environment.
- Maintain and support the existing network infrastructure through life cycle planning and investment road maps.
- Stay updated on the latest network technology advancements and trends.
- Identify technical requirements and develop cost-effective solutions to meet business needs, improve productivity, and support business growth.
- Automate tasks where possible using scripting and infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible.
- Validate new requests for compatibility with existing architecture ensuring business requirements are met.
- Develop and communicate architecture policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring security and QA standards compliance.
- Analyze root causes of network issues, suggest fixes, and implement solutions.
- Ensure existing Service Level Agreements are maintained.
- Bachelor’s degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- At least 6 years of experience as a technical engineer or architect managing network projects and IT systems, with focus on Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, F5 load balancers, Cisco wireless controllers, Cisco ISE, and Cisco NAC.
- Proven support, troubleshooting, and software development experience in network operations for a minimum of 2-3 years.
- Experience working as a consultant analyzing end-user needs, designing, and translating business requirements into network solutions for a minimum of 2 years.
- At least 1 year applying architectural principles, managing product lifecycle plans, developing business cases, and evaluating new technologies.
- Strong scripting skills and experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Ansible).
- Professional certifications such as Cisco CCT, CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, or CCIE; PMP, Lean Six Sigma, ITIL, or related certifications preferred.
- Knowledge of cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), directory services, CMDB, ServiceNow, SolarWinds, cybersecurity, and utility industry experience are advantageous.
