Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Middleware Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for delivering reliable infrastructure support for web application solutions and maintaining a stable, scalable middleware environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with development, server, and database teams to leverage technologies such as ColdFusion, Docker, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, Red Hat, and VMware.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-time onsite in Washington, DC; later shift ending between 5 PM and 7 PM daily.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call escalation rotation every 2-3 months.
- Support existing middleware infrastructure, troubleshoot incidents and outages, and improve performance and efficiency.
- Serve as escalation point for middleware issues and provide guidance for complex production or system problems.
- Assist application teams with troubleshooting application outages.
- Act as subject matter expert for middleware architecture improvements and outage resolution.
- Monitor OEM middleware patching and upgrade recommendations.
- Execute processes for middleware maintenance, including load balancing, tuning, and configuration management.
- Implement and maintain consistent middleware parameters and system settings across environments.
- Administer middleware management tools and patch middleware software per established lifecycle.
- Provide hosting operations and engineering support for web middleware components.
- Deliver training as required.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience in middleware administration and support in enterprise environments.
- Expertise in technologies such as ColdFusion, Docker, Oracle, Red Hat, VMware, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex middleware and application issues.
- Familiarity with patching, configuration management, and performance tuning.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional team support.
