This role involves leading a quality assurance team while actively performing hands-on manual testing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for test planning, execution, and troubleshooting, with a focus on exploratory testing and functional validation to ensure a high-quality end-user experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the manual testing strategy while actively performing hands-on testing for complex features and high-impact releases
- Translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable test plans, test cases, and checklists
- Manage the full defect lifecycle-from identification and logging to reproduction, cross-team communication, and final verification
- Guide and mentor team members on best practices in manual testing, edge-case identification, and documentation standards
- Continuously refine testing methodologies to ensure optimal coverage, improved release velocity, and higher bug-detection rates
- Act as the primary bridge between Product Management, Design, and Development teams to ensure quality is baked into the development cycle from day one
- Track, analyze, and report on key quality KPIs (e.g., defect leakage, test coverage, pass/fail rates) to provide transparency to stakeholders
- 6 years in software quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior mentorship role
- Deep proficiency in manual testing methodologies, including exploratory, regression, usability, and integration testing
- Strong ability to understand complex workflows and "think like an end-user" to identify scenarios that automated tests often miss
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; must be able to articulate technical defects to stakeholders who may not have a technical background
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Zephyr) and bug-tracking systems
- Ability to read logs, query databases (SQL), and interact with APIs (Postman/Swagger) to assist in root-cause analysis
