Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. The Data Processing Unit (DPU) team brings together state-of-the-art software and hardware expertise to create a highly programmable and high-performance ASIC with the capability to efficiently handle large data streams. Thanks to its integrated design, this solution empowers teams to operate with increased agility and deliver significantly superior performance compared to CPU-based alternatives. As a leader for the DPU Software Development Kit (SDK) team, you will champion the end-to-end quality and impact of our software development kits, ensuring developers can innovate seamlessly on our platform. This role calls for strategic vision, deep technical expertise, and an unwavering commitment to our customers. You will work across engineering, product, and customer teams-embracing a One Microsoft approach-to deliver exceptional developer experiences and anticipate evolving needs. By fostering collaboration and a growth mindset, you will shape how our SDKs empower developers worldwide and drive adoption through trust and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the end-to-end SDK strategy across APIs, documentation, usability, and developer workflows to deliver a seamless experience.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, and customer teams to drive improvements in developer experience and platform integration.
  • Turn customer insights into impact by translating feedback into actionable enhancements that anticipate future needs.
  • Define and measure success through clear KPIs for SDK adoption, quality, and developer satisfaction.
  • Scale readiness and enablement across programs to empower developers and accelerate innovation.
  • Embed quality early and simplify complexity, ensuring robust processes and software that delight customers and reduce friction.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8 years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C , C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8 years leading large engineering product teams, delivering software products to customers at scale.
  • 8 years experience leading cross-functional engineering teams
  • 6 years leading developmentof API and/or transport protocol definitions
Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience shaping developer experience across SDK, APIs and tooling ecosystems - Experience with pre and post Silicon Software Development - Proficiency in embedded systems and OS development - Track record of influencing cross-org initiatives

Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
