The Kong Architect role is a hands-on position that involves supporting application teams as they onboard onto the Kong platform. This role requires expertise in API management, cloud computing, and continuous integration to guide teams through migration and troubleshooting issues.
Responsibilities
- Supporting intake requests as application teams onboard onto the Kong platform
- Reviewing architecture submissions and guiding teams through migration
- Building and maintaining self-service Terraform automation modules for API creation and migration
- Troubleshooting migration issues across the full SDLC
- Analyzing existing DataPower integrations and providing guidance on migration to AWS landing zones and Kong
- Supporting application teams with platform issues once fully operational
Must-Have (Hard Requirements):
- Strong, hands-on Kong expertise (4 years)
- Deep knowledge of OpenAPI specs and API management
- Networking and load balancing experience in cloud environments
- Experience with AWS landing zones and transit gateway architecture
- Terraform and CI/CD pipeline experience
- DevOps automation skills, specifically GitHub Actions
- Self-service automation experience for API creation and migration
- DataPower experience
- Experience with other API management platforms like Apigee or IBM API Connect
- Cloudflare or F5 edge/CDN experience
