In this highly visible role, you will define and guide modern infrastructure architectures that enable scalable GPU-accelerated environments, advanced model training and inference, and high-throughput research workloads across a global healthcare enterprise. Your work will directly support secure, resilient, and high-performing platforms that power next-generation AI capabilities and computational research.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Linux-based large-scale compute environments, cloud architecture, GPU-accelerated HPC platforms, storage systems, and AI/ML ecosystem integration. You will collaborate with engineering teams, research leadership, cybersecurity, governance, and finance partners to develop architectural roadmaps, design patterns, and implementation guidance that ensure solutions are scalable, cost-efficient, and aligned with enterprise standards. As a technical leader, you will provide architectural guidance to engineering teams, oversee the implementation of approved designs, and ensure adherence to established best practices and standards. You will maintain deep technical expertise, continuously evaluating emerging technologies and vendor solutions to determine those that best meet Mayo Clinic's evolving research and clinical computing needs. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 7 years' demonstrated technical experience and 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience, or Associate's degree with 9 years' experience and 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience, or HS/GED with 11 years of experience and 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a large, complex organization like Mayo Clinic may be considered in lieu of the degree.Applies advanced knowledge of a particular field of specialization to the completion of highly complex assignments. Involves medium to high level of cross-product exposure and understanding. Involved in multiple medium to large sized projects. Serves as an individual contributor, consultant to peers and provides indirect leadership. Functions with a high degree of autonomy; generally, requires little or no guidance. Works as a team lead or internal consultant. Viewed as an expert and provides knowledge and counsel to others.Certification in cloud engineering is required within 12-24 months.

- Navigating Ambiguity: Providing consistent architectural leadership and stability within a large-scale, evolving technical organizational structure while meeting leadership priorities.
- Maturing the Hybrid Ecosystem: Refining the definition of "hybrid multi-cloud" for the enterprise, with a specific focus on modernizing and stabilizing deployment pipelines (Terraform/ADO) and improving the developer/researcher experience.

- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree with 10 years of technical experience (including 3 years in a leadership/architectural capacity) OR an Associate's degree with 12 years of technical experience.
- Strategic Communication: Demonstrated ability to develop architectural roadmaps, enterprise standards, and executive-level communications that align technical strategy with business outcomes.
- Certification: Current/active Professional Architect or Engineer certification in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) or Azure is preferred.
- Deep Linux Expertise: Expert-level command of large-scale Linux environments, including tuning, performance optimization, and troubleshooting in complex, distributed systems.
- HPC & GPU Computing: Proven experience engineering and tuning GPU-accelerated platforms (NVIDIA) and high-performance networking (InfiniBand/RoCE).
- Parallel Frameworks: Functional mastery of parallel computing frameworks (MPI, OpenMP), job schedulers (SLURM), and container orchestration for research (Singularity/Apptainer, Kubernetes).
- High-Performance Storage: Direct experience with enterprise and parallel storage architectures (e.g., DDN, Isilon, Lustre, or DAOS) and managing massive-scale data lifecycles (10-100PB ).
- Hybrid Multi-Cloud: Demonstrated ability to design and implement secure, resilient hybrid integration patterns between on-premises HPC clusters and public cloud providers (Google Cloud Platform/Azure).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced proficiency in modern deployment pipelines, specifically Terraform and Azure DevOps (ADO), with a focus on stabilizing and scaling automated infrastructure.
- Emerging AI Ecosystems: Strong architectural understanding of GenAI/ML workflows, including distributed model training, inference at scale, and the integration of agentic frameworks and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
