Cobol Developer
Contract Type: 1 yr contract to hire
Location: 5 days a week in Omaha, NE or Alpharetta, GA

Description:
What does a great COBOL Software Development Engineer do?
Possesses in depth knowledge and experience with services acquiring, and payment processing solutions for small/large businesses and financial institutions. Capable of working on complex projects, including problem solving, documentation, timelines and reporting.
What you will do:
Consults with project teams and functional units on the design of important projects or services.
Supports existing business systems applications.
Works on moderate complex projects and issues within functional area.
Works more independently with IT functional units and business units. Recommends strategies for improving system applications.
Manage daily support and maintenance and conduct long-term improvement operations to ensure compatibility with evolving mission requirements.
Develop customized solutions within the platform to support critical business functions and meet project objectives, client requirements, and company goals.
Communicate with project managers, clients, and other developers to design cohesive project strategies and ensure effective collaboration throughout all phases of development, testing and deployment.
Maintain a flexible and proactive work environment to facilitate a quick response to changing project requirements and customer objectives and innovate ways to meet mission goals successfully.
Lead the knowledge sharing sessions where team shares ideas and new features of the product.
Performs code reviews for the deliverables of self and others.
Performs code walk thru sessions to ensure defect free delivery of the code.
What you will need to have:
2 yrs. of related IT experience in software development.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, OR equivalent work experience.
Expert in multiple programming languages and tools.
Some knowledge in emerging technologies.
Possesses strong knowledge of application development technologies, tools and methodologies. Strong understanding of complex internal business processes or functions.
Must be expert in Mainframe technology with expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM and DB2.
What would be great to have:
Experience with Credit Card processing
Java development experience
Assembler knowledge
