Position Overview
We are seeking Senior-level Identity and Access Management (IAM) Engineers to support workforce authentication initiatives as part of a Discover integration program. These resources will focus on business-as-usual (BAU) operational engineering work, allowing the core team to address identified gaps and remediation efforts.
The primary platform supported is Ping Federate, which serves as the organization s major workforce authentication solution. Candidates should be able to operate independently and autonomously after ramp-up and bring deep, hands-on Ping expertise.
Preferred Locations (in order):
Richmond, VA
McLean, VA
Plano, TX
Hybrid: 3 days onsite (preferred for local candidates)
Key Responsibilities
Provide operational engineering support for workforce authentication platforms
Support and maintain Ping Federate infrastructure
Troubleshoot SSO issues (SAML assertions, attributes, access failures)
Assist application teams with onboarding applications to SSO
Perform platform deployments and refreshes due to:
Security vulnerabilities
Compliance and regulatory requirements
Execute deployments using Jenkins and GitHub
Participate in Slack-based customer support channels
Contribute to gap remediation initiatives when needed
Work closely with IAM, authentication, and application teams
Required Skills & Experience
5 years of hands-on experience with Ping Federate
Strong expertise in:
Ping Federate configuration
Policy management
Selectors and adapters
Access token management
Adapter configuration
Deep understanding of:
SAML
OAuth
OpenID Connect
Ability to troubleshoot complex IAM and SSO issues
Experience operating in regulated, enterprise-scale environments
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with Ping ID, Ping Verify, or broader PingOne suite
Okta experience (strong plus)
Prior Capital One experience
Background in financial services or other highly regulated industries
Interview Process
Single-round interview
30-minute virtual interview
Panel may include:
Hiring Manager

Engineer or Architect
Interviews conducted on a rolling basis
Offers may be extended immediately for strong candidates
