Principal Designer - Job Description
- Highly skilled in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) with demonstrated experience in drafting applications.
- Originate and produce drawings and 3D models of moderate to advanced complexity (S3D preferred).
- Read, interpret, and generate design drawings with minimal supervision from engineering.
- Perform field walk-downs, interpret direction, generate advanced design details, create new drawings, and modify existing ones.
- Direct, check, and approve work completed by other designers.
- Develop estimates, schedules, staffing requirements, progress reports, key quantities tracking, and project scope documentation.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and standards applicable to specialized engineering design (nuclear preferred).
- Associate degree preferred with 15 years of drafting/design experience in engineering and construction.
- Background in electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, fire protection, or civil design.
