Key Tasks:
- Develop and implement automated batch processing workflows for Terrasolid software suite (TerraScan, TerraModeler, TerraPhoto)
- Create scripts and macros to streamline transmission feature coding workflows for as-built documentation
- Automate classification routines for transmission infrastructure including towers, conductors, poles, and wires
- Optimize processing parameters for accuracy and efficiency across large statewide LiDAR datasets
- Support extraction of transmission asset data from aerial and terrestrial LiDAR collections
- Collaborate with transmission engineering teams to validate feature coding requirements and accuracy
- Develop quality assurance protocols for automated feature extraction workflows
- Document automation workflows and provide training to NextCollect data science team members
- Troubleshoot processing issues and refine automation scripts based on operational feedback
- Develop custom geoprocessing tools and Python automation scripts using ArcGIS Pro and ArcPy to streamline spatial analysis workflows
- Create tools for data validation, transformation, and quality control supporting transmission projects
- Support mapbook automation and report generation initiatives for NEER operations
- Integrate ArcGIS workflows with Terrasolid outputs for enterprise data delivery and visualization
- Build sophisticated map layers, cartographic visualizations, and spatial data rendering solutions
- Develop advanced spatial queries using PostGIS and PostgreSQL for enterprise geospatial databases
- Optimize cloud-based LiDAR data transfer and storage workflows supporting statewide collections
- Support automation of LiDAR data downloads and uploads to/from AWS S3 for NextCollect operations
Core Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Terrasolid software suite (TerraScan, TerraModeler, TerraPhoto)
- Strong Python programming skills for automation and scripting
- Experience with desktop automation and batch processing workflows
- Familiarity with LiDAR data formats (LAS, LAZ) and point cloud processing
- ArcGIS Pro, ArcPy, Python
- PostGIS and PostgreSQL for enterprise geospatial databases
- Strong understanding of spatial data formats, coordinate systems, and projections
- Create and manage SDE connections and geodatabase architectures within ArcGIS Pro
- AWS services (S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, Secrets Manager)
- AWS CDK with TypeScript for infrastructure as code
- GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines
- DBeaver for database management
- Jupyter Notebooks for geospatial analysis and documentation
- 3 years in GIS automation or geospatial software development
- Demonstrated experience with LiDAR processing workflows and point cloud analysis
- Experience with enterprise GIS architecture and geodatabase design
- Background in utility or infrastructure projects (transmission/distribution systems preferred)
- Understanding of transmission infrastructure and as-built documentation requirements
- Experience with AI/ML models in ArcGIS Pro for predictive geospatial analytics
- Familiarity with Riegl airborne and terrestrial LiDAR scanning systems
