Fiber Splicer - Lodging And Expenses Paid

Experienced Fiber Optic Technicians needed for a large scale data center project in Abilene, Texas. Lodging, expenses and relocation assistance provided!!

• Candidates MUST have at least 2 years of experience with ribbon splicing.
• We are offering a highly competetive pay structure with the opportunity for overtime.
• Candidates can choose to work one of two schedules - 6 days on and 2 days off OR 3 weeks on and 1 week off.
• Current shifts are running from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Out-of-market technicians will be provided with a $150 per diem to cover lodging and meals.
• Local technicians (within 60 miles of worksite) will be reimbursed with 73 cents per mile for their commute driving home.
  
  

The worksite will serve as the flagship location for the $500 billion Stargate initiative-a national AI infrastructure program. Fiber Optic Technicians play a critical and increasingly strategic role in the success of modern data centers-especially those supporting AI workloads and hyperscale infrastructure. Their impact spans technical performance, economic, and future scalability. Each building has 1,546,912 cables. We prep, splice, and test 6912s on OSEs at both ends (in separate data halls). We splice the 6912s to pre terminated to blunt pigtails that are installed by others.

Job Description:

Level II Fiber Technicians

• Performs mid-level splicing functions for aerial, underground, and ISP cable routing on various projects.
• Advanced ability to read and interpret construction prints, drawings, and splice matrixes to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled .
• Ability to determine equipment needs, cable route, cable direction, safety best practices, and perform splicing functions within a live customer facility.
• Independently and safely performs mid-sheath cable entry using proper tools.
• Performs mid-level single and/or ribbon splices with the understanding large cable count numbering .
• Ability to read/process test results and problem solve basic issues identified during troubleshooting .
• Proficient in mid-level OTDR and power meter testing .
• Ability to install and/or research installation procedures for all splice enclosures.
• Performs basic cable relocations and hot cuts while maintaining cable organization.
• Effectively communicates with internal (training peers) and external stakeholders (customers, subcontractors, etc.), addressing issues as they arise and offering customer-centric solutions.
• Responds timely to critical situations and emergency outages with an appropriate level of urgency.
• Maintains full understanding of safety risks while working in a safety sensitive position, adhering to all safety requirements and standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
  
  

Level III Fiber Technicians

• Performs complex splicing projects for both new and existing customers with little to no direction.
• Independently troubleshoots customer networks and reads/processes test results to provide customer deliverables.
• Creates Smart Sheets and Excel trackers to accurately track project schedules and progress.
• Independently reads/interprets prints and create work assignments for other Technicians.
• Accurately collects all pertinent information from pre-job inspections and customer field meetings.
• Supports operational leadership with the management of on-site project elements such as time, materials, documentation, production updates, tool, and equipment.
• Professionally interacts with and communicate with external vendors, customers, subcontractors, and internal leadership to ensure accurate information is disseminated to all parties.
• Proactively identifies and escalates project and personnel issues to operational leadership where appropriate.
• Creates training plans and conduct training for other Technicians and serve as a leader in the field driving quality, efficiency, production, and safety.
• Serves as an ADB Culture Champion leading, driving, and participating in ADB culture pillar events.
• Utilizes expert-level splicing skills to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements across ADB's Splicing group.
• Possesses advanced understanding of all safety risks while working in a safety sensitive position, adhering to all safety requirements and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with fiber ribbon splicers, mass fusion splicers, and testers within a data center environment.
• Safety-centric mindset is a must.
• Ability to travel and work long hours.
• Techs need steel toed boots. We provide everything else.
  
  

Additional Information:

• Time Shifts: 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM.(currently running) will change to 3 shifts. 3 weeks on 1 week off or 6 days on 2 days off (ADB accommodating different schedules).
• Onboarding: Techs will go through our training trailer for 1-2 days when they first arrive on site.
• Per Diem: $150 per day per diem (hotel and food). We have a Project Coordinator who can help find accommodation. (Right now we use a hotel in Sweet Water).

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $40.00/hr.
