Job Description
The Design Project Manager is responsible for managing the design process from campus planning and basis of design through issuance of construction drawings. This includes building and managing matrixed design teams across internal stakeholders and external partners, facilitating execution planning, and overseeing construction administration services supporting project delivery. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of building construction and/or design along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate planning and kickoff workshops with internal and external stakeholders
Lead design reviews in partnership with external partners
Facilitate large-scale technical and planning workshops
Develop scopes of work and secure stakeholder alignment
Issue and manage contracts
Define and track project deliverables across teams
Monitor cost, schedule, scope, and overall project progress
Provide regular health reporting on project performance
Build and optimize cross-functional design teams and external partner engagement
Manage scope changes and design contract updates
Facilitate technical decision-making aligned with project goals
Coordinate design activities with procurement and construction teams
Maintain clear and transparent communication with stakeholders and partners
Ensure timely and accurate distribution of engineering documentation
Qualifications And Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
Professional licensure (PE, NCARB, RA) preferred or equivalent experience (15 years)
Experience in data center design/construction or similarly complex projects
Experience in sectors such as healthcare, commercial high-rise, laboratories, manufacturing facilities, or power generation
7 years of experience in design and/or construction project management
Strong understanding of construction principles and practices
Experience coordinating cross-functional teams
Experience preparing project plans and specifications
Experience developing scopes of work
Knowledge of applicable regulations and compliance requirements
Experience managing multiple projects concurrently
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
