We are looking for a Data Center Technician for our client in Milpitas, CA

Job Title: Data Center Technician

Job Location: Milpitas, CA

Job Type: Contract

Job Overview:

Pay Range: $25hr - $30hr

Requirement/Must Have;

  • 2 5 years of experience as a data center technician.
  • Experience with hardware, IT, and cabling management in compute, storage, and network environments.
  • CompTIA A or equivalent experience.
  • CompTIA Server or equivalent experience.
  • CCENT or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Windows operating systems.
  • Ability to perform diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures.
  • Ability to replace faulty hardware components with minimal disruption.
  • Ability to complete assigned tickets efficiently while meeting service expectations.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience:

  • 2 5 years of experience as a data center technician.
  • Experience supporting data center hardware startups, shutdowns, diagnostics, and decommissioning.
  • Experience in hardware installation, staging, labeling, grounding, and cabling.
  • Experience with scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, stage, set up, and perform data center hardware startups and shutdowns, including racks, hard drives, and switches, following provided instructions and standard procedures.
  • Assist and guide other technicians in completing challenging or complex tasks.
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, identify root causes of issues, and replace faulty components with minimal customer and business disruption.
  • Perform post-execution quality checks and verify that grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling are completed properly according to safety protocols and deployment standards.
  • Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes, such as memory upgrades and operating system rebuilds, following standard procedures.
  • Follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate management.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings, complete required safety training, and comply with safety procedures.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by sharing information, participating in team meetings, asking questions, and staying informed about team progress.
  • Proactively share relevant information to support workflow efficiency and reduce the impact of changes on others.
  • Complete assigned tickets efficiently while meeting or exceeding established service expectations.
  • Maintain accountability for service quality, task completeness, and the overall user experience.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the client s business and maintain a client-focused approach when completing tasks.

Should Have:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • CCNA certification preferred.
  • MCP or MCSE certification preferred.
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash preferred.
  • Experience creating documentation such as knowledge base articles, standard operating procedures, and lessons learned.

  • CCNA certification preferred.
  • MCP or MCSE certification preferred.
