Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Data Architect with strong experience in the Retail/E-commerce domain and deep expertise in AWS-based data platforms. The ideal candidate will lead the design of scalable, multi-tenant data architecture, enabling seamless integration across enterprise systems while supporting advanced analytics and AI/ML initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and enforce a canonical data model across key retail domains: Product, Order, Customer, Cart, Inventory, Pricing, and Payments
- Architect and implement end-to-end data pipelines connecting systems such as ERP, OMS, CRM, Inventory, and Pricing platforms
- Build scalable cloud-native data infrastructure on AWS to support analytics and AI/ML workloads
- Lead data migration and brand onboarding initiatives:
- Conduct workshops with business and technical teams
- Map legacy data models to target architecture
- Define and execute migration strategies and automation
- Implement event-driven architecture and CDC pipelines for real-time data processing
- Ensure data governance, security, and compliance (PCI-DSS, GDPR) including PII handling, encryption, and auditing
- Define and maintain data lineage, data quality, and metadata management frameworks
- Present architecture decisions via ADRs and collaborate with Architecture Review Boards
- Act as the data SME, driving alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders
- 10 years of experience in Data Architecture, preferably in Retail/E-commerce environments
- Strong expertise in AWS data services (S3, Glue, DMS, EMR, EventBridge, RDS PostgreSQL)
- Experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouse/lakehouse platforms
- Proven experience in multi-tenant architecture and data isolation strategies
- Hands-on experience with event-driven systems and Change Data Capture (CDC)
- Strong understanding of retail data models (orders, inventory, pricing, customer)
- Expertise in data governance frameworks and regulatory compliance (PCI-DSS, GDPR)
- Programming experience in Python and/or Java
- Familiarity with AI/ML data pipelines and feature engineering concepts
- Excellent stakeholder communication and ability to drive cross-team architectural decisions
- Experience with Datastax Astra (Cassandra), Neptune (Graph DB)
- Exposure to SageMaker Feature Store or ML data platforms
- Background in large-scale retail transformations or multi-brand ecosystems
