Description
A leading systems integrator is seeking a highly qualified Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as the Chief Cyber Security Engineer supporting a large-scale digital infrastructure network design and deployment program for the U.S. Department of Defense.
This individual will act as the technical authority and cybersecurity strategist, responsible for ensuring compliance and securing all aspects of the network architecture. The role involves designing and implementing robust, scalable, and compliant cybersecurity solutions to protect sensitive data, defend against evolving cyber threats, and ensure the integrity, availability, and resilience of mission-critical network infrastructure.
Responsibilities include integrating advanced security technologies into network designs, establishing policies for access control and data protection, and ensuring alignment with DoD, NIST, and other applicable cybersecurity frameworks. The Chief Cyber Security Engineer will also serve as a trusted advisor, collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams, mentoring cybersecurity professionals, and providing oversight of security testing, monitoring, and incident response activities to support a secure and resilient deployment.
This position is remote with up to 25% travel.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree in Cyber Security, Cyber Engineering, or a related technical field with 8 years of relevant experience
- OR
- Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Cyber Engineering, or a related technical field with 10 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in cybersecurity architecture, design, and deployment efforts.
- Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams and provide senior-level technical guidance.
- Extensive experience designing and implementing cybersecurity solutions for complex networked environments.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity compliance frameworks and standards applicable to high-security environments.
- Experience supporting Network Operations Centers (NOC) and/or Security Operations Centers (SOC).
- Familiarity with large-scale government acquisition, test, and operational environments.
- Experience with carrier-class networks, cloud infrastructure and operations, and cross-domain solutions.
- Professional cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CySA , CISM, and/or CASP .
