Key Responsibilities:
- Support and maintain core banking applications written in COBOL within a mainframe environment
- Perform break/fix analysis, root-cause investigation, and production issue resolution
- Analyze existing COBOL programs to understand business logic, data flows, and dependencies
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and operations teams to clarify requirements and troubleshoot defects
- Participate in incident management, including on-call or escalation support as needed
- Document fixes, system behavior, and technical findings to support knowledge transfer and audit readiness
- Assist with minor enhancements, maintenance releases, and regulatory-driven updates
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to explain issues, impacts, and recommended solutions
- 5 years of COBOL development experience in a production environment
- Banking or financial services experience required (e.g., deposits, loans, payments, ACH, teller, or core systems)
- Strong experience with break/fix support, debugging, and production troubleshooting
- Solid understanding of mainframe environments (e.g., batch processing, online transactions)
- Experience working with business analysts and non-technical partners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-availability environment
