Comtech LLC is seeking a seasoned Cloud Infrastructure & Linux Engineer to support Florida State
University s Information Technology Services (ITS) environments. The engineer will be responsible for
RHEL and WebLogic administration, load-balancing configuration, SSL/TLS certificate management,
high-availability (HA) and disaster-recovery (DR) planning, and JVM performance tuning across on-
premise and cloud (OCI/AWS) infrastructure.
This role ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of enterprise applications including PeopleSoft
and related middleware by managing core Linux infrastructure, optimizing application servers, and
automating operational processes following ITIL and NIST-aligned best practices.
The Cloud Infrastructure & Linux Engineer will be responsible for tasks including but not limited to:
Administer, patch, and secure Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems supporting production and
non-production environments.
Configure, manage, and tune Oracle WebLogic domains, clusters, and deployments.
Implement and maintain load balancers (F5, HAProxy, or equivalent) to ensure scalability and
redundancy.
Manage SSL/TLS certificates, keystores, and truststores for secure web and application
communication.
Design and maintain HA and DR solutions, including backup validation, replication, and failover
testing.
Perform JVM tuning, garbage-collection analysis, and performance optimization for WebLogic-
based applications.
Automate system configuration, patching, and deployment using tools such as Ansible, Terraform,
or Shell/Python scripts.
Collaborate with DBA, Network, and Security teams to ensure end-to-end environment stability.
Monitor infrastructure health, analyze logs, and resolve incidents to maintain SLA compliance.
Maintain up-to-date documentation, runbooks, and change records per ITIL standards.
M1 Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
M2 7 years of experience in Linux systems administration and cloud infrastructure support.
M3 Proven expertise in:
RHEL 6/7/8 system administration and hardening
Oracle WebLogic Server 12c setup, clustering, and performance tuning
Load-balancing and reverse-proxy configuration
SSL/TLS certificate deployment and renewal processes
HA/DR architecture and replication strategies
JVM monitoring and profiling tools (JConsole, VisualVM, Mission Control)
M4 Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, storage, and Linux security controls.
M5 Hands-on experience with automation and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
M6 Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Expertise and/or relevant experience in the following areas are desirable but not mandatory:
D1 Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS EC2, or Azure VMs.
D2 Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
D3 RHCSA or RHCE, WebLogic Administrator, or AWS SysOps Administrator certification
preferred.
D4 Knowledge of NIST and FISMA security frameworks.
D5 Prior experience supporting PeopleSoft or middleware-heavy enterprise systems in higher
