Overview
Seeking a Design Engineer II to support a cable solutions team focused on new product development. This role is responsible for leading mechanical design efforts throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept through production. The position works cross-functionally with quality and operations teams to ensure designs are robust, manufacturable, and meet performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design activities for new product development from concept through production release
- Support all phases of the product development lifecycle, including design reviews, verification, validation, and production transfer
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate design trade-offs and manufacturability
- Create and maintain engineering documentation such as CAD models, drawings, specifications, and technical data
- Assist with troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives for existing products
- Ensure designs meet performance, quality, cost, and timeline requirements
- Follow established engineering standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience
- Experience with CAD and PLM systems
- Experience with electrical connector design
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Organized and methodical approach to work
- Experience with rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing
- Experience with environmental testing
- Experience using Creo and/or Windchill
- Target salary range for this level is typically $82K–$90K; up to $100K for more experienced candidates
- Team size: small engineering group (currently growing)
- Interview process: virtual interview followed by onsite
- Travel: minimal (approximately 1–2 trips per year)
- Primarily sedentary work (sitting/standing)
- Light lifting (up to 20 lbs)
- Use of tools or equipment as needed
