Introduction:
JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Product Manager/ Business Analyst to join its Credit Card Platform team with a dedicated focus on card authorization transaction workflows. This is a high-impact, hands-on role that involves driving the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of the systems responsible for transaction-level decisioning in the credit card lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Own the product lifecycle for card authorization transaction services, including roadmap, prioritization, and delivery.
- Partner closely with engineering, operations, fraud, and business teams to define and deliver new features and capabilities.
- Develop deep domain expertise in card transaction flows, including pre-authorization, authorization, and real-time decisioning.
- Analyze issuer platform needs and evolve capabilities to support scalability, resiliency, and compliance.
- Act as the SME on internal transaction orchestration tools, API interfaces, third-party processors (where applicable), and platform SLAs.
- Drive feature requirements, write user stories, and ensure clear articulation of business value to the development teams.
- Work closely with risk, fraud, and authorization strategy teams to align platform capabilities with control frameworks and business goals.
- Manage vendor relationships and integration projects, if applicable, related to transaction processing.
- Establish KPIs and metrics to track platform performance and continuously optimize throughput, latency, and approval rates.
Preferred Background & Skills:
- 10 years of experience in product management within card issuing platforms or transaction processing systems.
- Experience working on in-house platforms (not just third-party issuer processors).
- Deep understanding of authorization message flows (ISO 8583), credit card transaction lifecycle, decisioning logic, and payment rails.
- Strong knowledge of banking and payment compliance, such as PCI DSS, and an understanding of authorization risk.
- Hands-on experience working with technology teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly matrixed enterprise environment like a top-tier bank.
- Knowledge of tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SQL (for data analysis), and API documentation tools.
- Previous experience in credit card platforms at institutions like Capital One, Discover, American Express, or fintechs with their own issuing stack.
- Background in platform migrations, real-time services, or scalable distributed transaction systems.
- Familiarity with digital wallet authorization flows, contactless payments, or tokenization services.
