Business Analyst (Payments)

Role: Lead Technology Business Systems Consultant

Location: Metropark, NJ Charlotte, NC Chandler, AZ (Local only)

About The Role

The Payments Technology team is seeking a Lead Business Technology Consultant with deep expertise in high-value wire payments and interbank networks. This role will drive technical analysis, workflow optimization, and solution design for large-scale payment transformation initiatives across Fedwire, CHIPS, and SWIFT.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex business and technical analysis for payment system initiatives involving wire transfers, Fedwire, CHIPS, and SWIFT integrations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, map processes, and design solutions meeting operational, regulatory, and compliance standards.
• Analyze and document current vs. future state workflows; identify gaps and recommend enhancements for processing, settlement, and reconciliation.
• Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for ISO 20022 payment messages, validation rules, and exception handling.
• Support rollout of new payment platforms-migration planning, QA testing, parallel/shadow runs.
• Work closely with technology, operations, and business teams to resolve complex integration issues.
• Prepare detailed documentation: BRDs, functional specs, process flows, training materials.
• Contribute to payment modernization strategy and roadmap.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• 7 years in payments technology, operations, or consulting with strong focus on high-value wires and interbank networks.
• Deep knowledge of Fedwire Funds Service, CHIPS, SWIFT, payment flows, message formats (ISO 20022), and operational processes.
• Strong experience with technical analysis and requirements gathering.
• Experience working in an Agile SDLC environment.
