Backend Developer

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Backend Developer for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Capital Markets clients in midtown Manhattan, New York, NY.

This role is hybrid (2-3 days onsite per week in NYC). Toronto candidates may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java
• Build and enhance microservices supporting Commodities trading workflows
• Develop and maintain APIs (REST / SOAP) to integrate Openlink Endur with internal and external systems
• Support system integrations tied to Order Management, trade capture, and downstream reporting platforms
• Collaborate closely with Business Analysts to translate functional requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in Agile/Scrum sprint cycles
• Troubleshoot production issues and support system enhancements
• Contribute to major initiatives including in-house OMS development and Agriculture trading rollout
  
  

Required Skills

• 5 years backend development experience
• Strong proficiency in Java
• Experience building microservices architectures
• Experience developing APIs (REST / SOAP)
• Experience working within Capital Markets trading environments
• Strong understanding of system integration patterns
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to Commodities trading systems
• Experience integrating with Openlink Endur
• Experience building integration layers around trading platforms
• SQL/database experience
• Messaging frameworks exposure (Kafka or similar)
