Alpha Omega is searching for an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to join one of our long-term Federal projects.
This contract supports the operational environments, delivery platforms, pipelines, and modernization, enhancements, and maintenance of IaC and CI/CD pipelines. Support includes on-prem as well as AWS. Supports decommissioning of legacy systems. This contract supports a polyglot environment and is expected to bring in operational/Cloud/DevSecOps solution ideas to enhance collaboration and develop best practices around emerging areas of the Public Cloud, DevSecOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Solutions to eliminate toil associated with manual remediation are expected off this contract. The contract has been awarded and is beginning the transition-in phase and is expected to go for the next 4.5 years.

The likely salary range for this position is $99,590 - $140,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.

Key Responsibilities:
- The selected resource will be responsible for, at a minimum, the following responsibilities:
- Oversee and set the technical direction of client projects, collaborating directly with client staff to define and adhere to architectural standards.
- Lead internal teams and act as a Service Offering liaison
- Design, implement, integrate, and support Cloud solutions
- Work closely with clients and subject matter experts to understand requirements, establish priorities and project scope, and manage expectations and project delivery
- Define the technical and solution architecture for phased software development
- Create documents that specify strategy, assessment, or design in a way that delivers obvious value to the client and is understandable by any stakeholder
- Articulate architectural differences between solution methods and the challenges and approaches to integrating solutions built on different platforms, including a working knowledge of architectural frameworks that may be used by our clients.
- Apply detailed knowledge of organizational procedures to make independent decisions and serve as a credible resource for the client's senior management team
Experience/Skills:
- 10 years with specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data and analytics
- Architecture experience utilizing AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
- Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions/recommendations to business needs and client culture.
- Ability and desire to lead multiple technical project teams
- Ability to compromise and build consensus on architectural issues
- In-depth experience with some or all of these cloud concepts: Infrastructure as a Service, Serverless Architecture, Container Architecture, Platform as a Service, Storage, Infrastructure as Code, and Identity and Access Management.
- Knowledge of the concepts and tools required for effective software development including Integrated Development Environments, Continuous Integration, Operating Systems, Test-driven Development, SDLC Methodologies including Waterfall, Scrum, XP, Kanban, and SAFe.
- Cloud Architecture Certifications recommended but not required.
- Expert level knowledge of one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.,)
- 10 years with specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data and analytics
- Experience developing business proposals / technical role within a sales organization
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication both verbal and written
