Akkodis is seeking an Assistant Metallurgical Lab Technician for a Contract job with a client in Garden City, NY. The ideal candidate must have hands?on mechanical aptitude and the ability to support metallurgical sample preparation processes while maintaining attention to detail in a lab environment.
Rate Range: $30/hour to $35/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Pay Details: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour

Assistant Metallurgical Lab Technician job responsibilities include:
- Prepare material samples for analysis using mechanical band saws and precision tabletop saws for sectioning.
- Mount alloy samples using epoxy or acrylic puck preparation methods.
- Perform grinding and polishing activities to prepare samples for microscopic examination.
- Operate and maintain basic lab tools and equipment used in metallurgical analysis.
- Support ongoing laboratory operations and assist Metallurgical Lab Technicians with sample preparation tasks.
- High School Diploma required; Associate's degree in Physical Sciences (e.g., Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics) preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or technical support environment.
- Strong mechanical skills and ability to use hand tools.
- Ability to work in a fast?paced, team?oriented environment with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills in English (Spanish is a plus).
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 40 lbs, standing for extended periods (4-6 hours), and walking throughout the facility.
