Typical Day in the Role
- Review and analyze product code to ensure adherence to telemetry standards.
- Develop and maintain automation tools for testing telemetry and feature scenarios.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and data teams to align on data requirements and implementation strategies.
- Investigate application logs and telemetry data to identify issues and optimize data pipelines.
- Query and analyze large datasets using SQL or SCOPE scripting to validate data quality and compliance.
- Coordinate changes to computer databases and implement database solutions using knowledge of database management systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain large-scale enterprise ETL processes.
- Write and maintain logical and physical database descriptions and direct others in coding descriptions.
- Modify existing databases and systems to improve performance and compliance.
- Test programs or databases, troubleshoot errors, and implement necessary modifications.
- Apply best practices for data manipulation, storage, and analysis strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience in data science, software engineering, or database development.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (JavaScript, TypeScript preferred).
- Experience with managed coding languages such as C#, Java, or Python.
- Familiarity with database technologies and the ETL process.
- Strong skills in querying data using SQL or SCOPE scripting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Passion for working with data and enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Experience with feature UI testing and automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with telemetry systems and application logging.
- Ability to develop tools and solutions that streamline testing and compliance workflows.
