Application Support Engineer
On-site | Austin, TX | Full-time
Robert Half is partnering with a local organization to hire an Application Support Engineer to improve the reliability of mission-critical applications. This is a hands-on, lead role focused on complex production issues, root-cause analysis, and collaboration with engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead support for complex incidents across custom and third-party applications.
- Troubleshoot web, API, and data services hosted in Azure.
- Analyze logs, telemetry, and performance metrics using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Kusto/KQL.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend long-term reliability improvements.
- Partner with engineering and SRE teams to investigate defects and prioritize fixes.
- Own tickets from intake through resolution while meeting SLAs.
- Document solutions and mentor junior support engineers.
- Support third-party integrations, APIs, and SSO (OAuth/OIDC).
- Participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
Requirements:
- 7 years of experience in application support, DevOps, or software engineering.
- Expertise in supporting distributed applications in Azure.
- Deep troubleshooting skills with .NET and JavaScript/TypeScript applications.
- Hands-on experience with Azure services (App Service, Functions, Storage, Service Bus, SQL, Cosmos DB, etc.).
- Familiarity with OAuth/OIDC authentication flows and third-party integrations.
- Advanced SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Solid understanding of web application architecture, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native design patterns.
- Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions), and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience working within ITIL or similar service-management frameworks.
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
