Position Overview
Seeking an experienced WebMethods Integration Developer to design, develop, and support enterprise integrations and APIs across complex business systems. This role focuses on building secure, scalable, and high-availability integration solutions using the webMethods platform to support data exchange between internal systems, cloud services, and third-party applications.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with API development, middleware integrations, Java services, and secure integration patterns in enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
API Development
- Design and develop RESTful and SOAP-based web service APIs using the webMethods integration platform.
- Enable secure data exchange using standardized formats such as JSON and XML.
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms including OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML, or equivalent protocols.
- Produce and maintain clear API documentation using OpenAPI / Swagger.
- Manage API versioning strategies to ensure backward compatibility and controlled deprecation.
- Analyze existing enterprise systems to identify optimal integration points.
- Develop middleware solutions to connect legacy systems, cloud platforms, and approved third-party applications.
- Design event-driven and asynchronous integrations where appropriate, including webhook-based patterns.
- Implement robust error handling, transaction management, logging, and monitoring for all integrations.
- Ensure integrations comply with organizational cybersecurity standards and industry best practices.
- Implement encryption in transit and at rest.
- Utilize secure API gateways and conduct vulnerability assessments as required.
- Maintain detailed audit trails and transaction logs.
- Design integration solutions for high availability, resilience, and horizontal scalability.
- Define and implement performance benchmarks, including throughput and latency requirements.
- Develop and execute test plans including unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testing.
- Leverage automated testing and regression testing to support long-term maintainability.
- Document all solutions according to organizational standards and support knowledge transfer activities.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience developing solutions on the webMethods integration platform.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with webMethods.IO / webMethods Cloud Integration (IC).
- Proven experience developing SAP RFC (Remote Function Call) integrations.
- Demonstrated experience building custom Java-based integration services.
- Senior-level development experience with webMethods technologies, including:
- Integration Server
- Universal Messaging
- API Gateway
- webMethods Test Suite
- Trading Networks / EDI (TN)
- Java Service Development
- webMethods.IO
- Professional certifications related to integration platforms or APIs, such as:
- Software AG Certified webMethods Developer
- MuleSoft
- AWS Certified Developer
- Microsoft Azure Integration
- PMP or equivalent
- Experience supporting large-scale IT or digital transformation initiatives.
- Prior exposure to regulated or complex enterprise environments (e.g., utilities, public sector, infrastructure, or energy).
- Strong knowledge of secure software development practices, identity and access management, and cybersecurity controls.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working within cross-functional project teams.
