University Human Resources is seeking a HR Specialist to provide support in achieving critical data integrity. Responsibilities includes, but is not limited to, accurate and timely processing of data transactions, specific payroll adjustments and compliance reporting for both biweekly and monthly payroll processes. Advise and assist University Departments on the HR Transaction system, time reporting and vacation/sick leave policies and procedures. Collaborate with other UHR units such as Payroll Services, University Benefits, Compensation & Classification and IMHR to support the UHR mission.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
Specific Job Duties and Tasks:
- Analyze, audit, and process monthly and biweekly time records and HR Transaction forms in the HRIS System.
- Support implementation of HR initiatives as directed.
- Maintain confidential personnel records and reports.
- Review, identify and make recommendations for system or process change/improvement.
- Assist end users in system functionality.
- Evaluate and analyze information and assist in identifying needs, trends, and additional quality controls.
- Generate standard and routine reports for internal audiences
- Interpret and promote compliance with University policies, procedures, and regulations regarding University Workforce Operations functions
- Provide a high-level support role and assistance to University Departments on University Workforce Operations functions.
- Advise collegiate and departmental units, Faculty and Staff regarding education of University policies and procedures.
- Assist with the education and training for end users of the Time & Attendance and HR Transaction systems.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working experience 1-2 years in Human Resources, Administration or related fields; including communicating complex policies and procedures
- Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines, balance multiple priorities, and to ensure a high level of accuracy in work produced
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively transmit, receive and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods
- Proficient analytical skills including the ability to analyze a variety of data, determine validity, draw conclusions, and make recommendations
- Ability to work with users at all levels of experience as a team member and as a self-motivated sole contributor
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Desirable Qualifications:
Working knowledge of an HR Job actions system
- Working proficiency with Oracle PeopleSoft and SQL
- Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures
Previous experience assisting with systems testing
