Job Title: Derivative & Collateral Operations Strategist

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Derivative & Collateral Operations Strategist to join our fast-paced and collaborative team. In this role, you will provide oversight, analysis, and processing of derivative and collateral transactions for MassMutual and its portfolio. You will work with various corporate units, lines of business, investment managers, and subsidiaries to ensure accurate and efficient operations. As a subject matter expert, you will apply your knowledge and technical skills to meet our current and future needs. The successful candidate will be able to work under pressure, with limited supervision, and communicate effectively with internal and external partners.

The Team:

You will report to the Director of Collateral Management and be part of MassMutual's Derivatives, Collateral, and Investment Pricing team within the Investment Management Division. The team is responsible for counterparty onboarding, trade settlements, and collateral management for various types of investments. We are currently undergoing a multi-year project to transform our Derivatives and Collateral Platform, aiming to streamline our processes and enhance our capabilities.

The Impact:

  • Oversee and facilitate daily collateral margin and payment processes
  • Provide solutions for unique or complex business problems
  • Support team development and cross-training initiatives
  • Liaise with various departments, including front office, risk, compliance, accounting, treasury, and audit
  • Approve wire transfers and handle SWIFT communications
  • Manage relationships with brokers and assist in counterparty onboarding
  • Analyze cash and investment activity and report findings to senior leaders
  • Develop process flows for complex transactions and new mandates
  • Implement new regulations related to collateral and derivatives
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies in internal processes
  • Perform detailed analysis and resolutions for complex variances
  • Manage cash forecasting and analysis
  • Collaborate with the project management team as a subject matter expert
  • Create meaningful metrics related to collateral movements and liquidity
  • Ensure compliance with audit and regulatory requirements

The Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in derivative operations and collateral management
  • Strong understanding of investment operations, accounting, and related processes
  • Knowledge of various derivative asset classes and their use in investment
  • Ability to analyze issues and collaborate with investment data consumers for resolution

The Ideal Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of investment operations experience
  • Experience with specific systems such as Calypso, Murex, Eagle Star, and PACE
  • Understanding of ISDA (International Swaps and Derivatives Association) and CSA (Credit Support Annex)
  • Familiarity with TriOptima portfolio reconciliation, SAP Ledger, AcadiaSoft, SWIFT, and payment processes
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and high-intensity environment
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Pivot tables, VBA, and SQL queries
  • Experience in project management, agile methodology, or Jira is a plus
