Job Summary:
Jewelers Mutual Group is seeking a DevOps Engineer II to collaborate with software engineers, cloud engineers, and architects to enhance deployment pipelines and automate configurations. The role involves leading innovations within the IT community and supporting CI/CD tools and pipelines to improve IT services.
Responsibilities:
• Works closely with Senior DevOps Engineers to understand, design and implement modern DevOps practices.
• Assists development teams, infrastructure, and operations with the use of automation technologies to enable IT service improvements
• Document, design and re-design various processes to continually improve service to the customer.
• Work closely with IT team members, business stakeholders and agile teams as a DevOps Advocate.
• Assist Senior DevOps Engineers with socializing new standards across IT
• Evaluates existing applications and platforms and provides recommendations for improving performance to Senior DevOps Engineers
• Builds automated deployments and feedback mechanisms
• Leads and performs scripts maintenance and updates due to changes in requirements or implementations
• Works with vendors to resolve problems and develop solutions
• Responsible for the day to day management and administration of Infrastructure as Code components to meet business needs.
• Support CI & CD tools and pipelines as a partner to development teams.
• Work closely with Senior DevOps Engineers to create and maintain configuration standards for software and infrastructure
• Monitor technology and organizational trends in IaC, CI / CD, DevOps and DevSecOps in order to mature and continually improve IT services
• Complete all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
• Intermediate understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps concepts
• Intermediate experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef, Ansible or an equivalent
• Intermediate experience with programmable infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code IaC tools like Terraform.
• Intermediate experience with using scripting languages like Python and command languages (Bash)
• Experience administrating Linux distros (i.e. RHEL)
• Intermediate experience building and deploying containers.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructures (Azure)
• Desire to implement best practices across development IT operations.
• Experience with agile/scrum delivery teams.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative in driving results
• Ability to interact with both technical and non-technical roles in the organization
• Experience developing software or meeting operational needs with code and script (JavaScript, PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, .NET or Java)
• Advocate of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
• Experience with software quality principles and associated tools for testing and analysis
• Experience with CI and CD practices and supporting tools include Jenkins, Azure DevOps
• Experience with PaaS technologies such as containers, container orchestration and scheduling, service registration / discovery and monitoring
• Experience with manual and automated testing and quality practices.
• Experience with platforms (Linux, UNIX or Windows).
• Bachelor’s degree in technical field (Computer science, engineering or related field) or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 2 years of related experience is required
Preferred:
• Experience with container orchestrators (plus)
