Job Details
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Trust and Estate Paralegal with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience supporting attorneys in estate/trust administration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working directly with clients, fiduciaries, and financial institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the administration of estates and trusts, including:
Preparing probate petitions and related court filings
Collecting and organizing asset information
Preparing inventories, accountings, and asset transfer documents
Coordinate with financial institutions, government agencies, and beneficiaries regarding estate matters.
File documents with Surrogate’s/Probate Courts and track deadlines.
Prepare and file federal and state estate and gift tax returns (Forms 706, 709, etc.)
Maintain and organize client files and case management databases.
Support attorneys in preparing for meetings, hearings, and closings.
Communicate with clients regarding document execution and administrative matters.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience as a trust and estate administration in a law firm.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with estate administration software a plus (e.g., GEMS, Lackner, WealthCounsel, or similar).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive client matters.
Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate required.
